ScanTool.net OBD-2 Software. ScanTool.net is open-source software originally designed by ScanTool.net developers. In 2009, we stopped developing ScanTool.net software and soon after unveiled OBDwiz. OBDwiz is exclusively free for all our OBDLink and ElmScan 5 customers who purchased their scan tool after May 2010. License: Open Source. A model-specific OBD1 scanner can help you diagnose the reason in cars built from 1981 to 1995. This first generation of on-board diagnostics system was not universal. Different manufacturers require different connections and software for their model vehicles.

The Complete MEFI ECM Solution - Tuning, Data Logging, Diagnostics for MEFI1, MEFI2, MEFI3, MEFI4, 4A, 4B
Our Marine EFI (MEFI) Scan & TuneTM system allows you to download the internal MEFI programming to your PC or laptop with our MEFIburnTM program, change the operating parameters of the controller, and then reprogram the controller with your modifications. It also allows you to view all of your sensor systems in real time and log the data for later viewing, in addition to seeing which malfunction trouble codes, MALF's, have been set. Some competing systems will only allow you to monitor the performance of your boat or off-road vehicle's engine controller and reset engine trouble codes. Other costly packages force you to use an inconvenient hardware dongle or key, and only work with a few versions of the MEFI ECM series. Those days are over!
Since 1992 the GM Delphi MEFI ECM Controllers have been used in a wide variety of applications, including:
- Marine - MerCruiser, Volvo Penta, Crusader, Indmar, many boating applications
- Off-Road - Sand rails, race cars, industrial engines, and more
- Crate Engines - Ramjet 502, Ramjet 350, LT1, LS1, LS2, LS6, LS7, Ecotec
- A USB - MEFI Interface Cable. This has the 10-pin Delphi MEFI connector on one end and plugs into your computer's USB port on the other end. All of the electronics are contained within the cable itself. The cable is about 3m (10 ft) long, giving you plenty of distance between your engine and where you will be placing your laptop. 6-footand 15-footUSB extender cables are available
- A CD-ROM containing all the software you need to do both monitoring and tuning of your controller.
- A Step-By-Step set of instructions that will show you how to get up and running quickly.
The following table will help you determine which MEFI controller you have. On the bottom of the controller is a sticker with a part number. The GM part numbers and MEFI ECM's are listed here:

Download and Burn
A critical step in the tuning process is the ability to upload and download programs between your MEFI controller and your PC or laptop. We have developed custom software, the MEFIburnTM program, specifically designed for MEFI controllers to do that data transfer. This MEFIburnTM software can do both the download and critical upload (programming) functions. It works with the common automotive .bin file format, the Motorola S-record .ptp file format, as well as the Ingenius Pro .cal, .asm, and .umi file formats. The MEFIburnTM program has the capability to convert files between all 5 formats, so regardless of the calibration or tuning file type you have, you can use it.
The MEFIburnTM program allows you to enter a password on password protected calibrations, if you know the password, or if you do not know the password, completely blank out the internal memory of the MEFI controller and upload a fresh base tune to start your custom tuning process. For complete details and screen shots, see our MEFIburnTM page

Tune Your MEFI Controller
TunerPro is a free, donate-if-you-like-it tuning platform aimed at making tuning easier and cheaper. TunerPro started life as GMECM Edit, and debuted in early March of 2003. TunerPro has since grown into a very robust tuning tool.
We have developed two versions of control definitions to work with TunerPro, the Standard Edition and the Professional Edition. There are hundreds of parameters that can be tuned in a MEFI controller, however, only a handful are typically used. We have selected this typical parameter set for the MEFI Scan and Tune Standard Edition. The full parameter set is overwhelming for all but professional tuning applications, so for those pro users, we have MEFI Scan & TuneTM Professional Edition. For complete details and screen shots of TunerPro, see our TunerPro page and Mark Mansur's TunerPro.net webpage

Monitor and Data Log Your MEFI Controller
ScannerPro is a free, donate-if-you-like-it monitoring platform also done by Mark Mansur. Mark has done a great job of creating a simple to use and very detailed monitoring and data logging framework
We have developed 4 versions of control definitions to work with ScannerPro, MEFI-1, MEFI-2, MEFI-3, and MEFI-4. There are many parameters, flags, warnings, and MALF trouble codes to be monitored and logged for each generation of the MEFI ECM. For complete details and screen shots of ScannerPro, see our ScannerPro page and Mark Mansur's ScannerPro.net webpage

Ramjet 350 and Ramjet 502 Reprogramming
We have the capability to reprogram the calibration and tune of your Ram Jet 350 or Ram Jet 502 MEFI ECM. We do this Ramjet tuning on a mail in basis, and charge $200 for basic tuning. Don't suffer with a poor running Ramjet any longer!
Custom MEFI tuning
We can custom tune your MEFI controller, program your ecm remotely, anywhere in the world, and do MEFI Calibration Translation. See our custom and remote tuning page.

MEFI usage and applications:
General Motors in Kokomo Indiana, formerly Delphi Delco Electronics, manufacturers the finest engine controllers in the world, and their development, testing, and manufacturing capabilities are unrivaled. The MEFI line of controllers has evolved over the years and always has been on the cutting edge of engine control technology. The MEFI has been deployed in myriad applications from marine to industrial to racing to crate engine packages. This controller has enormous flexibility and the number of internal engine control parameters is staggering. To date, this marine ECM controller has faced challenges for custom deployments and modification because of the lack of a competitively priced and widely deployable software and hardware solution. Now, the only question is if you want the Standard or Professional version of the MEFIburnTM package.Overview

When you first launch OBDwiz, it opens the Connection tab:
Select the COM port and baud rate for your scan tool, or click 'Auto Detect' to have the software automatically find it:
When you click 'Connect', if the protocol is set to 'Automatic' the software attempts to connect to the vehicle by sending a request on each OBD-II protocol, until the correct one is found:
PID Monitor can be used to fine tune the performance of the software.
Once the connection is established, you can set up the real-time parameters you want to monitor, in PID Setup (PID stands for 'Parameter ID').
The General tab is used to switch between metric and English units, Day/Night modes, switch between and edit custom dashboards, and set other user preferences.
Configure the MPG or l/km meter parameters in the Fuel Setup tab.
Info tab shows useful information about the scan tool and the vehicle.
About contains the software version and copyright information.
Trouble Codes tab displays any available stored, pending, or permanent DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes). Click the 'Clear Trouble Codes' button to erase the DTCs and other diagnostics-related information.
Freeze Frame shows a snapshot of vehicle parameters at the exact moment the DTC was set.
